Court House-Sept-2013-08A bid for bail for a 36-year-old man charged with a shooting at Yaldhurst last month has been delayed for three weeks.

David John Hunter, a contractor from Oxford, will remain in custody until the Christchurch District Court hears his application for release on electronically monitored bail on August 25.

The application was made yesterday by defence counsel Chris Shannon and will be assessed during the remand.

Hunter was arrested on Tuesday and remanded in custody overnight on a charge related to the shooting of Dean Walter Louis in the thigh at a property in Yaldhurst on July 13.

Hunter has entered no plea to the charge of discharging a firearm at Louis with intent to do grievous bodily harm.

No application has been made for Hunter’s release on “straight” bail – without the electronic monitoring.
