Court House-entranceA couple have admitted unusual charges relating to the manufacture and sale of heroin at an address in Wilsons Road in Waltham.

Sixty-three-year-old Neil Christopher Parkin pleaded guilty to a charge of permitting his premises to be used to manufacture and supply heroin, and two other charges of manufacturing and supplying heroin were withdrawn.

His wife, Joanne Kim Halliday, 52, pleaded guilty to charges of manufacturing heroin, and supplying heroin.

The police summary says a man leaving the house was spoken to, and he had a syringe with a capped needle attached. He said it was morphine and he had bought it for $100 from Halliday.

The house was searched, and drugs, utensils, and needles were found in the kitchen and a spare room.

A wallet was found in the main bedroom with $1110 in cash, mainly $50 notes.

Judge John MacDonald remanded Parkin and Halliday on bail, to be sentenced on September 9. He asked for a pre-sentence report, and a report on their suitability for a home detention sentence.
